A Weekend Well Spent

Recovering from a bout of cold and cough, Tharoor revealed that he had cancelled his official commitments for two days. On the recommendation of his staff and sister Smita Tharoor, he decided to spend his time watching Aryan Khan’s new Netflix series. What followed, he said, was “one of the best things” he had ever watched on OTT.

In his detailed note on X (formerly Twitter), Tharoor wrote,

“I’ve been battling a cold & cough and cancelled engagements for two days. My staff and my sister, @smitatharoor, persuaded me to turn my eyes away from the computer towards a @NetflixIndia series, and it’s one of the best things I have ever treated myself to: absolute #OTT GOLD!”

“Fearless, Witty, and Razor-Sharp Satire”

Tharoor praised Aryan Khan’s writing and direction, calling The Bads of Bollywood a “fearless and witty satire” that takes a bold look at the Hindi film industry.

He added,

“Just finished watching Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Bads of Bollywood, and I’m left grasping for words of praise. It takes time to grow on you, but then you’re irresistibly hooked! The writing is sharp, the direction is fearless, and the sheer audacity of this satire is just what Bollywood needed.”

Tharoor continued, describing it as a “genius, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour”, packed with insider jokes and moments that allow the audience to peek behind Bollywood’s glossy curtain.

“A True Storytelling Powerhouse”

Impressed by Aryan’s confidence and creative voice, Tharoor wrote,

“The seven compelling episodes mark the arrival of a true storytelling powerhouse. Take a bow, Aryan Khan — you’ve delivered a masterpiece. The Bads of Bollywood is brilliant! @iamsrk: from one father to another, let me say — you must be so proud!”

The heartfelt message quickly went viral, with fans lauding Tharoor for recognizing Aryan’s talent and the show’s bold commentary on the film industry.

Star-Studded Cast and Surprise Cameos

The Bads of Bollywood is written and directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment. The ensemble cast includes Bobby Deol, Lakshya Lalwani, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Manish Chaudhari, Rajat Bedi, Mona Singh, Gautami Kapoor, and Vijayant Kohli, among others.
