Seema Sajdeh Says She’d Rather Come Home to Her Dogs Than a Man

Seema Sajdeh has opened up about her life after divorce, her approach to companionship and her equation with ex-husband Sohail Khan. In a candid conversation on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s podcast Double Date, Seema said she has become comfortable with her own company and does not feel the need to have a man waiting for her at home.

The fashion entrepreneur and reality television personality, who recently appeared on Alliance alongside Nikhil Chinapa, spoke openly about relationships, independence and co-parenting. When Angad asked whether she missed having a man in her life, Seema made it clear that being alone no longer feels like something she needs to avoid.

“At the end of a long day, I want to go home to my dogs. If I have another human being sitting there, I may not be okay with it,” she said.

Seema explained that she has gradually become accustomed to living independently and genuinely enjoys spending time by herself.

“I think I’ve become accustomed to being alone. I’m very happy by myself. I’m very self-sufficient. I don’t get scared. Many people are very scared to be alone in life eventually, but I actually like my own company,” she added.

Seema Sajdeh says she is open to companionship

While Seema is comfortable being single, she clarified that her preference for independence does not mean she has completely closed the door on companionship.

She said she would enjoy having someone with whom she could travel, explore new places and share good food. However, she does not see a relationship as something she needs in order to feel complete.

“I would like companionship… someone I can travel with and enjoy good food and places with… but otherwise, I’m very happy with my own company,” Seema said.

Her comments offer a glimpse into how her priorities have evolved following her divorce from Sohail Khan. Rather than describing single life as a temporary phase, Seema presented independence as something she genuinely values.

For her, companionship appears to be about adding to an already fulfilling life rather than filling a perceived gap.

Seema and Sohail Khan also found themselves connected through Alliance, where they participated in the reality format and faced the experience from different perspectives.

Speaking about her former husband during the podcast, Seema said she believed the show was considerably more challenging for Sohail than it was for her.

“See, the thing is that this show was far harder for him than it was for me,” she said.

According to Seema, one reason was the difference in their personalities. She described herself as someone who naturally enjoys interacting with people, while Sohail tends to be more reserved and comfortable within familiar surroundings.

“He gets along with everybody, but he’s not too much… he doesn’t make too much conversation. For me, I’m a people’s person. With him, he likes his comfort zone,” she explained.

Nikhil Chinapa, who was also part of the conversation, offered his own observation about Sohail’s experience on the show. He said that other participants often addressed Sohail as “Sohail bhai” and maintained a certain distance because of the respect and aura surrounding him.

According to Nikhil, this made it harder for Sohail to simply blend into the group as one of the contestants.

Seema and Sohail have moved beyond their difficult phase

Seema has previously spoken about how her relationship with Sohail changed after their divorce. In an interaction with The Times of India, she explained that their shared responsibility as parents has helped them establish a healthier equation.

“At the end of the day, we are parents to two beautiful boys. We’ve been divorced for four years now. We’ve gone through our motions, and we’re a great team when it comes to the boys. We’re better friends than we ever were as a couple,” she said.

The former couple share two sons, Nirvaan Khan and Yohan Khan, and Seema has emphasised that their children’s well-being remains at the centre of their relationship.

She also described Sohail as an emotional person and said that his experience on Alliance made him even more emotional. Despite the changes in their personal relationship, she maintained that they function as a united team when it comes to their children.

“We’re a unit when it comes to our children, and we’re co-parenting them beautifully. We’re great friends today,” Seema said.

From divorce to co-parenting

Seema and Sohail’s marriage ended after more than two decades. The couple had eloped and married in 1998 before eventually separating and finalising their divorce in 2022.

Their journey since then has included the difficult emotional stages that often accompany the end of a long-term relationship. Seema acknowledged that they experienced anger, conflict and what she described as a toxic phase before eventually reaching a more peaceful understanding.

“Every divorce has its stages of anger and lashing out. We’ve been through all of that, the toxic phase and the bad phase. It’s all done and dusted now because we both have to think about our two children, who never asked for any of this,” she said.

For Seema, moving forward has meant putting the needs of their children ahead of the conflicts associated with their past relationship.

She said she believes the two are now better allies and friends than they were as a married couple.

“I think we are better allies as friends than we ever were as a couple,” Seema added.

A different perspective on life after divorce

Seema’s latest comments also highlight a broader shift in how she views relationships and personal independence.

Rather than expressing anxiety about being single, she spoke positively about having the freedom to enjoy her own company. Her comments about returning home to her dogs instead of necessarily wanting a partner waiting for her capture that attitude in a simple way.

At the same time, Seema did not dismiss the possibility of love or companionship. She remains open to meeting someone with whom she can share experiences, travel and enjoy everyday life.

The distinction is that she does not appear to view a relationship as a requirement for happiness.

Her perspective comes several years after her divorce and follows a period in which she has continued to build her professional and personal identity independently. Her participation in Alliance also brought her into the public spotlight alongside Sohail, offering audiences another look at how their relationship has evolved.
