‘Marathi Mulgi’ Sharvari on Learning New Languages: “There Is So Much for an Actor to Explore”

Mumbai: Actor Sharvari has spoken about her curiosity for languages and the creative opportunities they offer performers, saying that India’s linguistic diversity gives actors a great deal to explore and understand.

Sharvari, who speaks Marathi at home, shared her thoughts while discussing her role in Main Vapas Aaunga. In the film, she plays a woman from Punjab, a character that introduced her to a different cultural and linguistic background.

The actor spoke about her experience during promotions for the film alongside co-star Vedang Raina and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.

“Languages Excite Me”

“I speak Marathi at home. It’s a completely different language. But I really think that languages excite me. Especially because there are so many languages in our country. There is so much for an actor to explore, so much to learn and understand,” she said.

Sharvari explained that Marathi continues to hold a special emotional connection for her.

“Even today, when I have to listen to music for a scene, I still listen to Marathi music because it’s the language that speaks to me truly,” she added.

“The words of that language make me feel something most deeply,” Sharvari said.

At the same time, she spoke about how her background had made her more open to learning and engaging with other languages.
