Ramayana Jai Jai Ram Song: Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram and Sai Pallavi’s Sita Bring the Epic to Life

The world of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana is beginning to take shape on screen, with the makers unveiling the film’s first song, “Jai Jai Ram.” Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the track offers audiences an emotional glimpse into some of the most important chapters of Ram’s journey.

Released on September 14, 2026, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the song brings together composer A.R. Rahman, singers Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, and lyricist Kumar Vishwas.

Rather than focusing on a single episode from the epic, “Jai Jai Ram” moves through several moments from Ram’s life, ranging from his wedding with Sita to his emotional reunion with Bharat.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Ram and Sita

One of the most visually prominent sequences in the song is the wedding of Ram and Sita.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi appear as the legendary couple as the film recreates the grandeur surrounding their union. The visuals then move to Ayodhya, where the newly married Ram and Sita receive a celebratory welcome.

The wedding sequences provide some of the song’s most joyous imagery, but the track soon shifts into more emotionally difficult chapters of Ram’s story.

From Dashrath’s ashes to Bharat Milaap

“Jai Jai Ram” does not restrict itself to the happier moments of Ram’s life.

The song also explores his relationship with his father, King Dashrath. One sequence shows Ram caring for his father, followed by an emotional scene in which he immerses Dashrath’s ashes in a river.

Another major moment featured in the song is Bharat Milaap, the emotional reunion between Ram and his younger brother Bharat.

A.R. Rahman gives the song a devotional character

Musically, “Jai Jai Ram” is built around the repeated invocation of Shri Ram’s name.

A.R. Rahman has described the composition as an attempt to retain the simplicity and intimacy of prayer while expanding it into a large-scale cinematic piece.

“At the heart of ‘Jai Jai Ram’ is the simple and powerful repetition of Shri Ram’s name,” Rahman said.

He explained that the intention was to preserve the purity of a prayer while allowing the music to grow into a cinematic composition.

The presence of Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal adds another emotional layer to the track, with Rahman praising both singers for bringing their individual interpretations to the devotional song without losing its central character.

Kumar Vishwas keeps the lyrics simple

Lyricist Kumar Vishwas said he deliberately avoided making the lyrics overly complicated.

For him, the song was not intended to attempt to define Shri Ram through words. Instead, it seeks to express the emotional relationship devotees have with him.

“‘Jai Jai Ram’ are three simple words, yet within them lies a complete prayer,” Vishwas said.

He explained that his aim was to portray Ram as a guide, source of strength and refuge for devotees rather than trying to encapsulate his meaning through a conventional lyrical description.

Why the song was released on Ganesh Chaturthi

Producer Namit Malhotra said the release date was chosen deliberately.

According to Malhotra, Shri Ram remains at the centre of the Ramayana and has a deep spiritual significance for generations of devotees. The makers wanted the song to reflect that connection while beginning the film’s musical journey on an auspicious occasion.

“Beginning this musical journey on Ganesh Chaturthi felt especially meaningful because, in our culture, every auspicious beginning starts by seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha,” he said.

The timing therefore adds a devotional dimension to what is also an important promotional milestone for the film.

Ramayana follows a star-studded cast

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.

Ranbir plays Shri Ram, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. Yash plays Ravana, Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey portrays Lakshman.

The scale of the production has made the project one of the most closely watched Indian films in development, particularly because of its ambitious interpretation of one of India’s most widely known epics.

The film has already generated major online interest

The release of “Jai Jai Ram” follows the strong digital response to the film’s trailer.

According to the makers, the Ramayana trailer crossed one billion digital views across platforms within six days of its release.

The song now gives audiences a more extended look at the film’s visual world, including its interpretation of Ram and Sita and several important emotional episodes.

Ramayana Part One arrives during Diwali 2026

Ramayana is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

Sony Pictures is set to handle the film’s global distribution outside India.
