Actress Ananya Raj, known for her work in Hindi and Telugu films including 7 Hours to Go, Ghost and Thaggede Le, has died at the age of 27.

Her family announced her death through a statement shared on her official Instagram account on August 15. According to the statement, Ananya Raj died peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of July 15. The family also said that she had been dealing with physical and mental health difficulties for more than a year.

“This is Ananya’s family. With great pain, we have to announce that Ananya passed away in the wee hours of 15th July. She passed away peacefully in sleep. For over a year she was going through physical and mental discomfort. And she fought like a warrior to overcome them,” the family said.

Remembering the actress and her personality, the statement further said that she was strong-spirited and lived life with confidence. “Bachcha, your absence will be dearly felt,” the family wrote.

They also requested privacy while the family mourns her loss and asked well-wishers to remember Ananya in their prayers.

“We urge all of you to pray for her soul. And in these trying times, we wish to maintain privacy and quietitude,” the statement concluded.

She made her Hindi film debut with 7 Hours to Go, released in 2016. The thriller was among her early appearances in Bollywood and helped introduce her to a wider audience.
