Suhana Khan Opens Up About Learning to Skate for The Archies: “I Fell a Lot but I Didn’t Hurt Myself”

Suhana Khan has opened up about one of the more challenging experiences she had while preparing for her role in The Archies. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama’s Rohit Khilnani at the BH OTT India Fest, the actor spoke about learning how to skate for the Netflix musical and how the experience became part of her preparation for the film.

Suhana Khan Recalls Her Skating Experience

While discussing her journey on The Archies, Suhana revealed that learning to skate was among the new skills she had to develop for the project. The actor admitted that she fell several times while learning, but fortunately managed to avoid any serious injury.

“I fell a lot but I didn’t hurt myself,” Suhana said while recalling the experience.

For a newcomer, the skating requirement added another layer to the preparation involved in bringing her character to life. Rather than simply performing in front of the camera, Suhana had to become comfortable with an activity that was unfamiliar to her.

Her Character’s Wardrobe Felt Familiar

Suhana also spoke about the similarities between her own fashion preferences and the wardrobe created for her character in The Archies. The film’s retro-inspired aesthetic required its young cast to embrace a distinctive visual style, and Suhana found some elements of her character’s wardrobe relatable.

The fashion helped her connect with the character while also contributing to the film’s nostalgic setting.

The Archies Was a Learning Experience

Suhana described The Archies as an important training ground for her as a newcomer. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film introduced a new generation of performers to the screen, including Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor.

For Suhana, the project offered an opportunity to learn about acting for a feature film while working alongside an ensemble cast and an experienced creative team.

Her comments about skating also offer a glimpse into the preparation that went into the film. Learning a new physical skill, adapting to period-inspired costumes and understanding a fictional character were all part of the process as she transitioned into acting.

Suhana Khan’s Early Career

Suhana, daughter of actor Shah Rukh Khan and producer-designer Gauri Khan, had already attracted considerable public attention before making her professional acting debut. However, The Archies marked an important step in establishing her identity as a performer.

The film, released on Netflix, gave Suhana the opportunity to make her feature-film debut in an ensemble coming-of-age musical set against a fictional version of 1960s India.

Her experience on the project, she suggested, was about more than simply appearing on screen—it was an opportunity to learn, experiment and develop confidence as an actor.
