Yash praises Nayanthara as ‘Lady Superstar’ and calls her ‘badass’ in Toxic

Yash has praised Nayanthara’s performance in Toxic, calling her the “Lady Superstar” and revealing how the actor completed her portions despite having limited dates for the film.

Yash and Nayanthara are set to share the screen for the first time in Geetu Mohandas’ upcoming action drama Toxic. At the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru, Yash spoke warmly about his co-star, praising both her performance and her professionalism during the production.

According to Yash, Nayanthara had limited availability when she joined the project because of scheduling commitments. The production team therefore had to complete her portions within a compressed shooting schedule.

Yash praises Nayanthara’s professionalism on Toxic

Speaking at the event, Yash explained that the scheduling situation meant Nayanthara had to complete her scenes within a short period.

“The situation was such that when Nayanthara came onboard this film, there was some issue with the dates. The shoot had to be done very quickly. We didn’t have much time. We had to push through. She completed the film shoot despite her date issues. She gave her best,” Yash said.

He also praised Nayanthara for taking on a role in a large-scale project and described her as a natural fit for the character.

“It takes a lot of grace to choose a film like this and do what she has done. She indeed is Lady Superstar. I know what market she has and how much fans love her,” he added.

‘She looks like the most badass sister’

Yash also offered a glimpse into Nayanthara’s character, Ganga, describing her appearance in Toxic as particularly striking.

“She looks badass in Toxic! She looks like the most badass sister anyone can have! She nailed the part,” he said.

Nayanthara’s character is reportedly connected closely to Yash’s protagonist, adding another dimension to the relationship between the two central characters.

While the film’s makers have kept several story details under wraps, the trailer has already generated interest around the characters and the world created by director Geetu Mohandas.

Why Nayanthara initially hesitated to join Toxic

Nayanthara revealed that she was initially uncertain about accepting the project.

The actor explained that the film has a large ensemble cast, something that made her cautious about taking the role. She said she is generally selective when considering projects with numerous prominent characters.

“When Geetu Mohandas called me for the film, I wasn’t so sure because there are a lot of actors in the film, and I’m usually a little careful or maybe a little apprehensive about choosing a film where there are a lot of actors,” Nayanthara said.

She initially told the filmmaker that she did not think she wanted to do the movie. However, Mohandas continued the conversation and eventually convinced her to hear the complete narration.

“I said, ‘No, I don’t think I want to do the film.’ She asked me so many questions. I then said, ‘Okay, it’s fine, just come and narrate it to me,'” Nayanthara recalled.

After hearing the story, she changed her mind and agreed to join the film.

Nayanthara praises Yash’s dedication to Toxic

Nayanthara also had strong words of appreciation for Yash and his commitment to the project.

Referring to him as “Rocky Bhai”, she said she had been impressed by the actor’s work ethic throughout the production.

“Beyond that, let me tell you, I have never ever seen a more hardworking actor than Yash. Every single day on set, I’m just amazed at the way he works,” she said.

She also spoke about the amount of time Yash has invested in Toxic, saying the actor spent around four and a half years working on the project.

According to Nayanthara, that commitment involved significant sacrifices in terms of time with his family, children and personal life.

Toxic brings together a major ensemble cast

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash and Nayanthara alongside Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.

Nayanthara plays Ganga, while Yash leads the film in its central role. The project marks the first screen collaboration between the two actors and has attracted considerable attention because of its ensemble cast and Mohandas’ distinct filmmaking style.

Toxic is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 26.
