She noted that hope is a clinically significant factor in mental health recovery as it helps individuals counter feelings of helplessness and emotional paralysis. According to her, hope is not blind positivity, but the belief that emotional conditions can improve with appropriate support, structure, and treatment.
She further explained that individuals who maintain even a small sense of hope are more likely to seek help, engage in therapy, and rebuild daily routines. Research also suggests that hope contributes to resilience, motivation, and emotional regulation during depressive episodes.
The expert added that emotional struggles can sometimes lead to deeper self-awareness and personal growth, a process often described as post-traumatic growth. Such experiences may help individuals reassess relationships, expectations, and lifestyle choices, ultimately leading to stronger emotional clarity and self-understanding.
While recovery from depression is rarely linear, the combination of support, therapy, and internal resilience plays a crucial role in healing and long-term emotional well-being.
