Rumours about a possible collaboration between Rani Mukerji and Akshay Kumar in the third installment of the popular franchise OMG 3 have been circulating online. However, the latest reports suggest that the actress is currently not attached to the project.
Nearly three years after the release of Oh My God 2, Akshay Kumar is expected to return to the satirical drama series with a fresh storyline. The film is reportedly being developed once again with director Amit Rai and is expected to explore themes rooted in Hindu mythology. Industry reports indicate that the film may begin production around mid-2026.
Is Rani Mukerji part of OMG 3?
Speculation earlier suggested that Rani Mukerji would join the franchise as the female lead. According to reports, the actor was approached by the makers and was given a brief narration of the story.
Sources cited by media reports claim that she expressed interest after hearing the initial outline. However, discussions did not move beyond the early stage, and no formal agreement was finalised. As a result, the actor is not currently part of the project, which is tentatively titled Oh My Goddess.

About the OMG franchise
The franchise began with Oh My God! in 2012. The film starred Paresh Rawal alongside Akshay Kumar and was inspired by the Gujarati play Kanji Virrudh Kanji. The satirical drama received strong critical appreciation and performed well at the box office.
The story follows Kanji Lalji Mehta, a middle-class shop owner whose antiques store is destroyed in an earthquake. An atheist by belief, he decides to challenge religious institutions in court after insurance companies refuse to compensate him. During his legal battle, he receives unexpected guidance from a mysterious man later revealed to be Lord Krishna.
The follow-up film, Oh My God 2, released in 2023. It featured Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Akshay Kumar. The film focused on a father fighting a legal case regarding sex education in schools while receiving divine support from Lord Shiva.
Rani Mukerji’s recent and upcoming films
Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mardaani 3, a crime thriller inspired by cases involving organised begging rackets across India. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film reportedly earned around ₹51.47 crore net in India.
