While the audience score sits lower, this has been attributed in part to online backlash following the introduction of a Black female gladiator in a leading role.

Despite the controversy, viewership numbers tell a different story. Ahead of its Season 1 finale, Spartacus: House of Ashur has surged across both PVOD and SVOD platforms. The show currently ranks among the top five most-watched titles on several streaming services internationally, including Starz in the United States and MGM+ in the United Kingdom.
