Keerthy Suresh on Marrying Antony Thattil: ‘I Truly Thought We Would Just Elope’

National Award–winning actor Keerthy Suresh has opened up about one of the most emotional milestones of her life—her wedding to longtime partner Antony Thattil—revealing that the grand celebration that made headlines was never part of the original plan.

In a candid reflection, Keerthy shared that she and Antony had always imagined something far simpler. “We never even dreamt of a wedding like this. I genuinely thought we would elope,” she said, recalling how unexpected and overwhelming the experience turned out to be.

The couple, who tied the knot in December 2024, had been in a relationship for nearly 15 years before deciding to marry. Their wedding blended traditional Hindu rituals with Malayali Christian customs, symbolising not just their union but the harmony between two cultures. The event was attended by several prominent figures from the film industry, including Thalapathy Vijay, making it one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year.

‘We Were Completely Overwhelmed’

Speaking during a recent home tour with Asian Paints, Keerthy described how emotionally charged the wedding day was for both of them.

“I never dreamt of a wedding like this. After a point, we were speechless. You’ve been longing for 15 years, and suddenly it all comes down to those 30 seconds,” she said.

Keerthy recalled feeling completely blank in that moment, unable to process the scale of what was happening. “That’s probably the first time I saw him tear up,” she added, calling the journey “beautiful” and deeply fulfilling.

Navigating Religious Differences With Ease

Keerthy also addressed the assumptions she and Antony once had about potential challenges due to their different religious backgrounds. Contrary to her fears, she said the process turned out to be far smoother than expected.

“At home, we assumed there might be issues. I spoke to my dad about it four years ago, but he made everything so easy. It was nothing like I had imagined,” she had earlier revealed on the show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa.

That reassurance, she said, became a turning point, allowing the couple to move forward with confidence and peace.

A Peek Into Her Kochi Home

Alongside her wedding reflections, Keerthy also offered a glimpse into her Kochi residence, set against the tranquil backdrop of Kerala’s backwaters. The home seamlessly blends contemporary design with traditional Kerala elements, mirroring the balance she maintains between modern cinema and rooted values.
