Kangana Ranaut reacts to Ketan Agarwal murder case, says parents should not be blamed for children’s actions

Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has commented on the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, stating that parents should not be held responsible for the actions of their children.

Her remarks came through an Instagram post in which she discussed broader concerns about the influence of social media, artificial intelligence, and peer groups on young individuals.

“Families cannot be judged for children’s actions”

In her post, Ranaut said that it is increasingly difficult to assess a person’s upbringing based solely on family background or parental values. She argued that modern influences often extend far beyond the home environment.

According to her, individuals today are shaped significantly by digital platforms, online interactions, and curated identities, which may not reflect their real behaviour or upbringing.

She wrote that people often construct “parallel lives” online, making it difficult to understand their true personality or moral grounding based only on family perception.

Ranaut also pointed to the growing impact of social media and artificial intelligence on behaviour and decision-making. She suggested that young minds are increasingly influenced by digital environments, peer pressure, and external validation systems.

Background of the case

Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old Pune-based businessman, died on June 18 after falling from Lohagad Fort near Pune. Police are investigating the case as a suspected murder.

His fiancée Siya Goyal and her associate Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities are examining multiple angles, including digital communication records and personal interactions leading up to the incident.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also met the victim’s father, Vishal Agarwal, in Pune, assuring full support and strict action in the case.
