Actor Sonakshi Sinha has revealed that veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha is unlikely to return to films anytime soon as he remains deeply involved in politics.
Speaking about her father’s career transition, Sonakshi said he is currently happy focusing on public life and has no immediate plans to produce or act in films again.

Shatrughan Sinha, who currently serves as a Lok Sabha MP representing the Asansol constituency for the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), has largely stayed away from cinema in recent years.

She added that her father has successfully transitioned from films to politics and appears content with his current responsibilities.
“He’s happy wherever he is and with what he’s doing.”
Shatrughan Sinha’s last major on-screen appearance was in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se.
Sonakshi on Her Father’s Support
Sonakshi also spoke about how her father approached her acting career.
According to the actress, Shatrughan Sinha never interfered with her professional decisions and encouraged her to build her own identity in the industry.
“His main thing has always been that I’ll have to prove myself on my own,” she shared.
The actor credited her father’s honesty and support for helping her become independent and resilient.

Reflecting on changing public perception over the years, Sonakshi shared a light-hearted anecdote about people now recognising Shatrughan Sinha as “Sonakshi Sinha’s father.”
She said airline staff and fans often approach him with the remark, something he proudly shares with her later.
“He feels so proud,” Sonakshi said with a laugh.
Despite her own success, the actor emphasised that she will always proudly be known as Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter.

The actress also addressed the ongoing nepotism debate in Bollywood and said privilege exists in every profession.
Using the example of family-run businesses, Sonakshi argued that it is natural for children to receive easier access to opportunities connected to their family background.
“That’s how the world works,” she said.
She added that she does not believe nepotism deserves excessive public outrage, noting that people from established families naturally have certain advantages.
