Maala Parvathi Demands AMMA Leadership Resignation Amid Ansiba Hassan–Tini Tom Controversy

Kochi: Actor Maala Parvathi has publicly called for the resignation of the current governing body of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), citing concerns over transparency, accountability, and the organisation’s handling of recent internal disputes.

In an open letter shared on social media on Sunday, the actor said she was following the developments within AMMA with “deep regret” and expressed disappointment over what she described as administrative shortcomings and growing internal conflicts.

According to Maala Parvathi, the challenges currently facing the organisation differ significantly from controversies it has dealt with in the past. She stated that the latest issues raise important questions about the functioning of the leadership and decision-making processes within the association.

Questions Over Administration and Transparency

The actor said that transparency and accountability should have been prioritised by the organisation’s leadership. Instead, she noted that reports of disagreements and conflicts within the association have continued to emerge publicly.

AMMA is currently led by actor Shwetha Menon, who became the organisation’s first woman president following the resignation of the previous executive committee in the aftermath of the Hema Committee report.

Maala Parvathi also referred to the ongoing dispute involving actors Neena Kurup and Lakshmipriya, questioning why timely intervention had not been made. She pointed to reports suggesting that disciplinary proceedings had faced challenges in obtaining cooperation from those involved.

Concerns Over Staff-Related Decisions

The actor further raised concerns regarding the dismissal of former office manager Athulya. She argued that allegations involving workplace conduct should be addressed through formal complaints, proper investigations, and appropriate procedures before any administrative action is taken.

According to her, information that has surfaced in public discussions suggests possible lapses in organisational processes and governance.

Maala Parvathi additionally questioned reports claiming that AMMA’s electricity expenses had been adjusted through deductions from an employee’s salary. She said such practices, if accurate, would be inconsistent with the standards expected from a professional organisation.

Communication Gap with Members

Highlighting another concern, the actor said communication between the leadership and members appears to have weakened. She claimed that members have struggled to receive clear responses regarding important organisational matters, which she believes has affected AMMA’s credibility.

She also expressed concern over the increasingly public nature of disputes among members, saying that repeated exchanges of allegations and counter-allegations have impacted the association’s image.

Demand for Resignation

In her statement, Maala Parvathi urged the current leadership to accept responsibility for the ongoing crisis and step down.

She said that, in her view as a member of the organisation, the governing body should resign on moral grounds and take responsibility for the administrative challenges and controversies currently affecting AMMA.

Ansiba Hassan–Tini Tom Controversy

The actor also addressed the allegations recently raised by Ansiba Hassan against actor and mimicry artist Tini Tom, a matter that has attracted considerable attention within the Malayalam film industry.

Maala Parvathi stated that allegations involving discrimination or communal concerns deserve a fair, impartial, and comprehensive inquiry. She argued that rather than discouraging public discussion, the focus should be on establishing facts through a credible process.

She added that complaints submitted by Ansiba Hassan, Neena Kurup, and others should have been addressed through internal mechanisms capable of earning the confidence of members.

Public Accountability

Defending her decision to speak publicly, Maala Parvathi said individuals in public life must be prepared to face scrutiny and answer questions raised by society. She maintained that open discussion is important when issues affect public institutions and professional organisations.

Concluding her remarks, the actor said she had placed significant trust in the current leadership and therefore felt a responsibility to express her concerns. She reiterated her call for the governing body to resign in order to help restore confidence in the organisation.

AMMA’s executive committee is expected to meet as discussions continue over the controversies involving Ansiba Hassan, Tini Tom, Lakshmipriya, and other ongoing disputes within the association.
