Kushboo Sundar Discusses Her Relationship With Tamil Nadu CM Vijay, Says He Will Always Be Like a Brother

Actor-politician Kushboo Sundar recently opened up about her relationship with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay while attending the audio and teaser launch event of her upcoming production Double Occupancy in Chennai.

During the event, Kushboo spoke about Vijay’s recent decision to permit five theatre shows per day during the opening week of film releases and expressed strong support for the move.

Despite belonging to different political parties, the actress-politician emphasized that their personal bond remains unchanged.

“Vijay Will Always Be Like a Brother”

While interacting with the media, Kushboo Sundar stated that political affiliations have never affected her personal relationship with Vijay.

She said that although both are associated with different political ideologies and parties, Vijay will always remain like a brother to her.

Kushboo currently serves as the State Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, while Vijay leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Her comments quickly drew attention among fans and political observers alike, especially considering the increasing crossover between Tamil cinema and politics.

Kushboo Praises Vijay’s Theatre Show Decision

Kushboo also praised Vijay’s decision to allow additional theatre shows during the initial release week of films.

According to her, the move offers significant relief and financial support to producers struggling with rising production costs and changing audience behaviour.

The actress explained that filmmaking has become increasingly difficult in recent years due to mounting expenses and unpredictable box office performance.

She noted that while cinema often appears glamorous to outsiders, the industry faces intense financial pressure and operational challenges behind the scenes.

Kushboo added that modern audiences have become more selective, making theatrical success harder to achieve than before.

Sundar C Earlier Spoke About Vijay

Filmmaker Sundar C had also earlier spoken positively about Vijay’s entry into politics.

He described Vijay as a kind and respectful individual and mentioned that the actor shares a warm bond with Kushboo Sundar, often addressing her affectionately as “Akka.”

Sundar C also stated that he had no intention of criticising Vijay or his political journey.

Kushboo and Vijay’s Film Collaborations

Kushboo Sundar has previously worked with Vijay in films including Villu. She also appeared in a cameo role in Varisu, although her scenes were eventually removed from the final theatrical version.

Their long-standing association within the Tamil film industry has contributed to the close personal rapport they continue to share.

Vijay’s Political Journey

C Joseph Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, entered active politics through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026, marking a major political shift in the state after decades of Dravidian party dominance.

Vijay has also announced that Jana Nayagan will be his final film project as he plans to focus entirely on his political career moving forward.
