Lavanya Tripathi Says ‘Sathi Leelavathi’ Is a Fresh Entertainer, Not Linked to Kamal Haasan’s Classic

Actress Lavanya Tripathi is set to return to the big screen with Sathi Leelavathi, a comedy entertainer directed by Tatineni Satya, known for films like Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu and SMS (Siva Manasulo Sruthi). The film stars Malayalam actor Dev Mohan in the lead role and is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 8.

Speaking about the film, Lavanya shared that she has already watched the movie and feels confident about its response from audiences.

“I watched Sathi Leelavathi with my manager, and we laughed throughout the film. It has come out really well, and now I’m excited to see how audiences react,” she said.

The actress also revealed that she discovered she was pregnant while filming the movie. Despite the challenges, she completed the shoot with support from the team.

“When I signed the film, I had no idea that I was pregnant because I had no symptoms initially. Later, I realised the shoot would not be easy, especially after losing weight for the role. Somehow, I found the energy to continue. But in the future, if I know I’m pregnant, I would definitely take a break from shoots,” Lavanya explained.

In the film, Lavanya plays the role of a director. She described Sathi Leelavathi as a complete entertainer filled with comedy, emotional moments and a subtle message.

“The entertainment in the film is excellent, and audiences will enjoy the humour. It also carries emotions and a meaningful message, but it never feels preachy,” she said.

The actress added that the relationships shown in the film are not ideal in real life and expressed gratitude for her own family life.

“No woman should go through such situations in reality. Personally, I’m lucky to have a wonderful husband like Varun. Right now, I’m enjoying spending time with my husband and son,” she shared.

Lavanya also praised her co-star Dev Mohan, calling him a talented actor and a good person. She confirmed that he has dubbed for himself in the film.

At present, the actress has not signed any new projects as she plans to focus on her family life for some time.

“My son keeps me busy, and I’ve decided to take a small break from work,” she said.

Lavanya also clarified that audiences should not compare the film with Kamal Haasan’s iconic movie of the same name.

“That film is a timeless classic. Our movie is completely different and should be watched purely as an entertainer,” she added.

Speaking about the possibility of sharing screen space with her husband Varun Tej in the future, Lavanya said she would love to collaborate if the script feels unique and interesting.
