Kriti Sanon may be set to explore a new genre in her acting career. According to a report by Variety India, the actress has reportedly signed an upcoming horror film backed by Maddock Films. If confirmed, the project could see her take on a different kind of role after her previous association with the production house.
Kriti has worked with Maddock Films on several projects, including Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Mimi and Bhediya. Her reported casting in the upcoming horror film has sparked interest in what could be a new chapter in her collaboration with the production banner.
Kriti Sanon to Explore the Horror Genre?
According to the Variety India report, Kriti Sanon has signed the upcoming horror project and is expected to play a strong female protagonist. The report also cites a source who says the actress is interested in exploring the genre, even though she is not particularly fond of watching horror movies.
The source reportedly stated that Kriti wanted to challenge herself as an actor by taking on a role in the genre, and that the project came along at the right time.
The film is said to feature the actress in a different avatar. However, details about its title, director, supporting cast and production schedule have not been officially announced. Maddock Films has also yet to confirm the reported casting.
The production house has established a presence in the horror-comedy space with films such as Stree, Roohi and Munjya. Its supernatural film universe has attracted considerable attention, making any new horror project from the banner an interesting development for Bollywood audiences.
It remains to be seen whether Kriti’s reported film will be connected to the existing horror-comedy universe or will tell a standalone story.
Kriti Sanon’s Association with Maddock Films
Kriti Sanon made her acting debut in 2014 with Heropanti, opposite Tiger Shroff. She subsequently appeared in films across several genres, including Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi and Mimi.
Her performance in Bareilly Ki Barfi, which also starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, earned her recognition for her work in a comedy-drama. She later received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Mimi.
Over the years, Kriti has collaborated with Maddock Films on multiple projects, including Raabta, Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Mimi and Bhediya. In Bhediya, she starred opposite Varun Dhawan in a supernatural comedy that formed part of Maddock Films’ broader supernatural film slate.
If the latest report proves accurate, the new horror film would offer Kriti another opportunity to work with the production house while exploring a different role.
