Actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have reportedly heightened security at their Mumbai residence after the former received a threatening message earlier this week.
According to reports, the couple informed the Dadar Police Station through a formal letter, stating that armed security personnel had been deployed outside their home following the incident.
Threat Allegedly Sent Via WhatsApp Voice Message
As per media reports, Ranveer Singh received a threat via a WhatsApp voice message on Tuesday night. Following the development, additional security arrangements were made at the couple’s residence.
A report by Hindustan Times stated that six armed security guards were sent to the Dadar Police Station without prior approval from the Society Managing Committee. The letter further mentioned that a second uniformed police officer had been stationed at the premises.
Society Committee Raises Concerns
The housing society’s managing committee reportedly expressed concern regarding the presence of armed personnel within common areas of the building.
In an open letter, members raised questions about the security arrangements, claiming that armed guards were seen carrying weapons in shared spaces including the foyer, gymnasium and children’s play area. The committee sought clarification from the Mumbai Police on whether proper authorisation had been granted for the deployment.
Investigation Underway
With extortion being considered as a possible motive, investigators are reportedly examining potential links to criminal networks. Some reports suggest that authorities are probing whether individuals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang could be involved.
The incident comes shortly after a firing episode outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, where multiple rounds were allegedly discharged. Police officials and the Mumbai Crime Branch reached the location following the incident and began an investigation.
These developments have reignited concerns over the safety of high-profile personalities in Mumbai. Authorities are currently working to trace the origin of the threat message while maintaining heightened security around Ranveer Singh’s residence.
Ranveer Singh’s Professional Front
Amid the security developments, Ranveer Singh is currently celebrating the commercial success of his recent spy thriller Dhurandhar. The film, also starring Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt, has reportedly crossed Rs 1300 crore at the global box office.
The sequel to Dhurandhar is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
