American singer and actor Dove Cameron is stepping into a new chapter. The 30-year-old star recently got engaged to Italian singer-songwriter and Måneskin frontman Damiano David, and wedding planning is officially underway.
In a recent interview, Cameron opened up about her vision for the big day — especially when it comes to her wedding look. For her, the outfit is more than fashion. It is about identity.
An “Inclusive” Wedding Look
Dove shared that she never spent years imagining her wedding day. In fact, she had not planned for it at all.
“It was never one of those things that I had planned out. I didn’t know what form my life was going to take. And now, I’m like a baby again,” she said, describing the experience as entirely new.
However, there is one thing she is certain about: her wedding outfit must reflect the fullness of who she is.
“I’m going to have to figure out a way to design a dress that feels inclusive of the fullness of who I am,” she explained.
For Cameron, that includes celebrating her queerness and embracing both her masculine and feminine energies.
Balancing Masculine And Feminine Expression
The singer acknowledged the challenge of finding balance. She does not want to lean too far in one direction stylistically.
“If it’s my wedding day and we’re both in suits, I’m going to look back and be like, ‘Well…’ But if I go ultra-femme, I’m going to be like, ‘Well…’,” she shared candidly.
Cameron emphasised that she wants her wedding look to feel authentic rather than performative. While she has expressed a desire to wear white, she also wants to ensure that the outfit genuinely represents her identity.
“Your wedding should be about you,” she said. “I don’t feel pressure to amalgamate or honor a specific idea of what a wedding should look like.”
At the same time, she noted that some traditional elements may naturally find their place in the ceremony.
Embracing Identity Publicly
Dove Cameron came out as queer in 2020 during an Instagram Live session. She has previously spoken about the internal struggle she faced before publicly sharing her identity, including fears that people might not believe her.
Since then, she has been vocal about self-expression and authenticity, and her wedding plans appear to follow the same philosophy — embracing identity without compromise.
As she prepares for her future with Damiano David, one thing is clear: for Dove Cameron, the wedding will not just mark a union, but also a celebration of self.
