Singer Bhoomi Trivedi has marked this year’s Ganpati celebrations with a deeply personal musical offering, ** Kesudo**, a song that brings together her Gujarati heritage, her years in Mumbai and her lifelong connection with Lord Ganesha.

Unlike a conventional festival track, Kesudo has been created entirely from Bhoomi’s own artistic and emotional perspective. She has written, composed and sung the song herself, drawing inspiration from childhood memories, family and the atmosphere of Mumbai during Ganeshotsav.

“Kesudo is extremely close to my heart because it comes from a very personal space of devotion. I have written the song, composed it and sung it myself, so every part of it carries a piece of me,” Bhoomi said.

She added that her intention was not simply to create another festive release but something that felt like a genuine expression of faith.

“I didn’t want to create just another festival song. I wanted it to feel like a genuine offering to Bappa, something that came from devotion, gratitude and a very personal emotion.”

Bhoomi Trivedi’s Childhood Ganpati Memories

For Bhoomi, Ganpati has long been associated with her family.

She remembers her parents taking her and her elder sister to different Ganpati pandals during her childhood. One particular memory, although somewhat hazy, remains especially meaningful to her.

“I have a very vague but incredibly precious memory of my dad carrying me on his shoulders so that I could get a glimpse of Ganpati Bappa through the crowd,” she recalled.

While she may not remember every detail of that day, Bhoomi remembers the feeling surrounding it — the crowds, music and excitement of the festival, along with the experience of celebrating it alongside her family.

She describes her parents and sister as among her biggest sources of inspiration and credits the values she received from them for shaping who she is today.

“Whatever I am today, so much of it comes from the love, values and encouragement they have given me.”

Those childhood experiences continue to influence how she thinks about Ganpati.

“When I think about those childhood Ganpati memories, Bappa and my parents are very deeply connected in my mind,” she said.

From Gujarati Roots to a Mumbai Ganpati Experience

Bhoomi moved to Mumbai in 2010, and her relationship with the city’s Ganpati celebrations has grown over the years.

She says she has watched Mumbai transform during the festival, with neighbourhoods and communities coming together in an atmosphere of celebration.

“Every year I have witnessed how beautifully the city comes alive during Ganpati. The entire atmosphere becomes happier, more vibrant and full of celebration.”

For the singer, the festival’s most meaningful quality is its ability to bring people together regardless of whether they know one another personally.

“You don’t necessarily have to know someone to feel connected to the celebration. For those few days, Bappa brings everyone together.”

That sense of community became an important part of the inspiration behind Kesudo.

Bhoomi wanted the song to reflect her identity as a Gujarati who has made Mumbai her home, allowing the cultural influences of both worlds to coexist in the music.

“I wanted to capture that spirit through my own Gujarati and Maharashtrian Mumbaikar identity. Kesudo became my way of welcoming Bappa, with a lot of love.”

‘I Wanted It to Feel Like a Conversation and a Prayer’

The creative process behind Kesudo was driven as much by emotion as by musical composition.

Bhoomi says she did not approach the song simply by thinking about its sound or arrangement. Instead, she imagined what she would personally want to say to Bappa.

“I wasn’t thinking only about how the song should sound. I was thinking about what I would want to say to Bappa if I were standing in front of Him.”

That thought eventually shaped the emotional character of the song. Bhoomi wanted Kesudo to exist somewhere between a personal prayer, a conversation and a celebration.

“I wanted it to feel like a conversation, a prayer and a celebration at the same time.”

For her, the distinction between performing a song and expressing something deeply personal is important.

“There is a difference between singing a song and singing something that you genuinely feel.”

She believes Kesudo allowed her to combine her memories, cultural identity and devotion in a way that feels particularly personal.

Bhoomi Trivedi Wants Kesudo to Become Part of Ganpati Memories

Rather than measuring the song’s success solely through numbers or streaming figures, Bhoomi hopes Kesudo becomes part of people’s own Ganpati celebrations.

For her, hearing that a family played the song while welcoming Bappa home would carry greater emotional significance than a conventional measure of success.

“The greatest compliment would be if someone tells me, ‘We played your song when we brought Bappa home,’ or ‘This became a part of our Ganpati celebration.’ Those are the moments that would mean the most to me.”

Ultimately, Bhoomi hopes the song can create the same kind of lasting emotional association that Ganpati has created in her own life.

“I don’t want Kesudo to just be a song people listen to. I want it to become a small part of someone’s Ganpati memory, just as Ganpati has been a part of some of my most beautiful memories.”

With Kesudo, Bhoomi Trivedi has brought together music, family memories, Gujarati heritage and her connection with Mumbai into a devotional song that she describes as an offering to Bappa.
