Taylor Swift is extending the The Life of a Showgirl era with a surprise new release.
The pop superstar has announced The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of her 2025 album featuring four brand-new songs. The project arrives Friday, alongside the previously announced single “Patient Zero.”
The new edition adds “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon” to the original 12-track album, bringing the total track count to 16.

Swift revealed the project on social media, explaining that the additional songs were written after the original The Life of a Showgirl album had already been released.

Swift described the four songs as being born from her appreciation for the response to the album.
“We wrote more songs. I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
The singer also reflected on the enormous first-week response to The Life of a Showgirl, saying fans had given the album “the biggest first week for an album in history.”
The Encore edition will be available to pre-order and save ahead of its Friday release.

“I think what we’re going to be looking for is hiding in plain sight.”
She then delivered a series of unusual phrases:
“Saccharide. Aries. From the vineyard. North or south.”
Fans subsequently discovered that taking the third letter from each phrase produced the word “encore.”

Max Martin and Shellback Return for the New Material

The project is scheduled to arrive on digital streaming platforms as Thursday night turns into Friday morning.
Apple Music currently separates the release into Disc 1, containing the original 12 songs, and Disc 2, containing the four new tracks. However, that presentation does not necessarily confirm that a two-disc CD or vinyl edition is coming.
Spotify, meanwhile, lists all 16 songs in a single sequence.
Until Swift or her team confirms otherwise, the physical-release status of The Encore remains unclear.

The new announcement also changes the conversation surrounding another long-running piece of Swift-related speculation.

The release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, however, gives Swift a different major project to promote during the period when some fans expected the debut re-recording to appear.
