Parineeti Chopra has spoken out against the online scrutiny of women’s bodies after childbirth, calling postpartum trolling “uneducated” and questioning why the physical changes caused by pregnancy are viewed negatively. Her comments come amid social media criticism of Katrina Kaif’s appearance following the birth of her son.
Parineeti Chopra has joined the conversation around the way women, particularly actresses, are judged for their bodies after becoming mothers. During promotions for her upcoming Netflix series Shaque: Trust No One, the actress criticised the practice of commenting on postpartum bodies and said she finds such discussions difficult to understand.
Parineeti, who welcomed her son Neer in October 2025, also spoke about her own distance from social media and explained why she does not pay much attention to online trolling.

She compared pregnancy-related changes with other physical changes people generally celebrate.
“You get a haircut, your hair is going to be shorter. You go for a vacation, you are going to come back with a tan. You are going to the gym, so you are going to make abs. There is going to be evidence of what you did on your body, and all that is celebrated,” she explained.
For Parineeti, the same perspective should apply to pregnancy and childbirth.
“But making a human life, a baby, that evidence on the body is not celebrated. How is it negative?” she said.

“I would look at a woman and say, ‘Oh my god, I see a stretch mark. Did you grow a baby? That’s so amazing. How is your baby?’ That’s how I would look at it,” Parineeti said.

The actress later made a public appearance with Vicky at the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations, after which some social media users compared her appearance with older photographs and commented on changes to her body.
Parineeti did not need to name Katrina specifically for her broader comments to resonate with the ongoing discussion around the actress. Her remarks focused on the larger issue of how women are treated after pregnancy.
Salman Khan had also recently spoken about trolling directed at Katrina, criticising comments about women’s age, weight and appearance and saying that pregnancy-related weight gain should not become a reason for online abuse.
‘I Don’t Even Know Most of the Trolling’
Parineeti also explained that she intentionally maintains a distance from social media, which means she rarely sees the comments directed at her or other celebrities.
“Since I don’t spend much time on social media, I don’t get to read about any kind of trolling. I don’t even know the trolling that is happening around me or around people,” she said.
The actress described online trolling as largely insignificant to her.
“I actually don’t know most of it because that’s how insignificant I feel it is. It’s really a waste of time,” Parineeti added.
In another interaction, she described the practice of discussing a woman’s body after childbirth as “absolutely bizarre.”
“I find it absolutely bizarre that, especially postpartum women, are even discussed. I don’t understand why. I just don’t get it. I genuinely don’t get it,” she said.
Parineeti questioned why the physical signs of pregnancy should be considered negative when they are the result of bringing a child into the world.
“If a woman has produced a baby and there’s evidence of that on her body, why is that negative? Isn’t that a beautiful evidence?” she said.
