8-Foot Snake Spotted at Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat, Safely Rescued and Released

MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Mumbai residence Mannat had an unexpected visitor on August 17 when an approximately eight-foot-long snake was spotted on the property.

The reptile was seen in the lawn and courtyard area of the Bandra residence, prompting the family to call professional snake rescuer Vicky Dubey. The snake was safely captured and later identified as a Dhaman, or Indian rat snake.

The non-venomous reptile was rescued without injury to anyone at the property and was subsequently released into its natural habitat in accordance with forest department guidelines.

Snake rescued from Mannat without incident

According to information attributed to a police source, the snake was noticed on the property before Dubey was contacted for assistance.

After reaching Mannat, the rescuer carefully secured the reptile and identified it as a Dhaman measuring around eight feet.

The rescue operation was completed without incident, and no injuries were reported.

Following the rescue, Dubey informed the Forest Department Round Officer and the Mumbai Range Office in Thane about the incident. The snake was subsequently released into a suitable natural habitat.

The rescue ensured that the reptile was removed from the residential property without being harmed.

What is a Dhaman or Indian rat snake?

The Dhaman, commonly known as the Indian rat snake, is a non-venomous snake found across several parts of India.

Although the species can grow to a considerable length, its size can make an encounter appear more alarming than it actually is. Indian rat snakes are generally not considered dangerous to humans.
