Aradhana Sharma on Her Acting Journey, Suhagan Chudail and Her Wonder Woman Dream

Aradhana Sharma’s journey into acting began almost by accident. During her college years, a student from a photography school approached her for a photoshoot. Stepping in front of the camera for the first time changed her perspective and eventually set her on a path towards acting.

After making her presence felt in projects across television, films and digital platforms, Aradhana is now exploring another challenging role in Colors’ fantasy romance Suhagan Chudail. The actor previously received attention for her performance in Barsaatein-Mausam Pyaar Ka, where she took on a negative lead.

In a recent conversation with Eastern Eye, Aradhana spoke about her relationship with the camera, her growing confidence, the lessons she has learned throughout her career and her ambition to eventually work in Hollywood.

‘The Real Aradhana Is in Front of the Camera’

Aradhana says she immediately connected with the camera when she first encountered it.

“When I was first introduced to the camera, lenses and screens, I really loved it. In front of the camera, I feel alive, happy, enthusiastic, and so real,” she said.

For her, acting is not simply about performing a character.

“The real Aradhana is in front of the camera. I don’t act and live that moment. I love being in front of the camera,” she added.

Interestingly, acting was not always part of her career plans.

From Wanting to Become an IAS Officer to Becoming an Actor

Aradhana revealed that she once wanted to become an IAS officer and pursue academics. Acting was not something she initially considered, partly because she lacked confidence in her appearance.

“I never thought of being an actor. I wanted to become an IAS officer and go into academics. I dreamt of doing something big, but never considered acting because I was never confident about my looks,” she recalled.

She still describes herself as an “average-looking girl”, but says her personality, grooming and hard work gradually helped her develop confidence.

“I worked on my inner self to build the confidence outside,” she explained.

‘Barsaatein-Mausam Pyaar Ka’ Became a Turning Point

Looking back at her career, Aradhana describes her journey as one of continuous growth.

She began with episodic appearances and cameos before moving into films, a web series and television projects including Lakhan Leela Bhargav. Her role as a negative lead in Barsaatein-Mausam Pyaar Ka proved particularly significant.

“This was life changing. I found out that I can be someone and do something big. That serial gave me so much confidence,” she said.

The experience made her believe more strongly in her abilities as an actor.

“That yes, I am Aradhana, and can perform well,” she added.

She described the journey of playing a negative lead as transformative and credited producer Ekta Kapoor and the entire team of Barsaatein for the opportunity.

Aradhana Sharma on Joining ‘Suhagan Chudail’

Aradhana is now part of Suhagan Chudail, a finite fantasy romance series on Colors featuring Nia Sharma and a larger ensemble cast.

The actor praised the show’s cast and crew, particularly its director, whose approach to giving feedback has made an impression on her.

She said the director remains calm even when correcting an actor and chooses to explain mistakes privately rather than shouting or speaking disrespectfully.

“I want to inculcate those qualities,” Aradhana said.

She also described being part of a Colors show with a global audience as a major opportunity.

“It’s such a big opportunity and blessing for me. After this, I know many doors will open for me,” she said.

What Can Viewers Expect From Her Character?

According to Aradhana, Suhagan Chudail combines fantasy, romance, drama and humour.

She described her character as bringing fun and drama to the finite series and said viewers can expect plenty of interesting situations throughout the story.

Aradhana also spoke warmly about working with Nia Sharma.

“Nia Sharma with her sassy looks, is such a sweet and hardworking girl!” she said, adding that she shares a good equation with her co-star.

She believes the chemistry among the cast members and the work of the directors have helped create something distinctive.

How Aradhana Chooses Her Roles

For Aradhana, the size of a role is not necessarily the most important consideration when deciding whether to take up a project.

She first considers the significance of her character within the larger story and looks at the project’s overall vision.

“I believe that even if your character is small, but the project is big, you should do it,” she explained.

She also evaluates the script, theme and vision of a show before deciding how she wants to approach a character.

From ‘Friends’ to Thrillers: What Aradhana Watches

When she is watching content as an audience member, Aradhana enjoys a wide variety of genres.

She counts sitcoms such as Friends and Modern Family among her favourites, while also enjoying suspense and thriller films. Comedy movies and shows are another part of her viewing choices.

Her varied interests reflect the same openness she brings to her professional work.

‘I Never Give Up’

Aradhana describes persistence as one of her defining qualities.

“I never give up on something or anyone easily. I don’t accept defeat. I work hard,” she said.

She added that she takes responsibility seriously and is willing to work day and night to fulfil her commitments.

“I don’t give up on people either. I’m a hopeful person. I don’t live with regrets or doubts,” she said.

Aradhana’s Dream Role Is Like Wonder Woman

While television remains an important part of her career, Aradhana has much bigger ambitions.

Her dream role is inspired by Wonder Woman, and she hopes to eventually work in Hollywood in an action-oriented project.

“I want to go to Hollywood. I want to do stunts, martial arts, boxing, fights and everything in a Wonder Woman-like role,” she said.

She is already working towards that goal by learning skills that could help her take on physically demanding roles.

“I am transforming myself and learning those skills because my ultimate goal is to make a bang in a Hollywood project and amaze everyone,” she added.

The Advice Aradhana Sharma Carries With Her

Aradhana credits her parents with giving her advice that continues to guide her personally and professionally.

One lesson came from her mother, who passed on advice from Aradhana’s grandfather. The message was about knowing when to stop insisting when something is not working in your favour.

According to Aradhana, she was advised to express her position once, twice and a third time, but if nothing changes, to stop repeating herself.

Her father offered a different kind of guidance: work hard, remain diligent, honest, courageous and responsible while continuing to use one’s intelligence.

Those principles appear to align closely with Aradhana’s own approach to her career.

‘This Life Inspires Me’

When asked what inspires her, Aradhana points to life itself.

“This life inspires me. I know that everything is so temporary and want to live as much as possible,” she said.

She wants to make the most of her opportunities, take on more work and spread positivity around her.

“I want to do as much work as possible and spread love as much as I can,” she added.

Aradhana also acknowledges that mistakes are part of the process.

“I have made mistakes but am learning and growing. Whatever I’m doing, I’m very happy that this is my life,” she said.
