Samantha Ruth Prabhu Begins Celebrity MasterChef Tamil Shoot in Chennai Amid Pregnancy Reports

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has reportedly begun filming for Celebrity MasterChef Tamil in Chennai as she continues her professional commitments ahead of the arrival of her first child with filmmaker husband Raj Nidimoru. The actor, who has been reported to be in her seventh month of pregnancy, has travelled to Chennai to start work on the highly anticipated culinary reality show.

Produced by Banijay Asia, Celebrity MasterChef Tamil will bring popular names from the Tamil entertainment industry into the kitchen. The celebrity contestants will compete in a series of cooking challenges based on the globally recognised MasterChef format.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu Starts Shooting in Chennai

According to a source close to the show’s development, Samantha has already reached Chennai and commenced filming. Further details about the shooting schedule have not yet been disclosed.

The actor had earlier spoken about her excitement at being part of a format that marks a departure from her previous work. For Samantha, the opportunity to explore food, competition and the personalities of fellow celebrities was a key attraction.

“I’m incredibly excited to finally share this with everyone. Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is unlike anything I’ve done before, and that’s exactly what made it impossible to say no,” Samantha said.

Samantha also highlighted the way food can bring people together and offer audiences a different glimpse into a person’s personality.

“Food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, creating memories, and revealing a side of you that the cameras don’t usually get to see,” she shared.

The actor said she was particularly looking forward to seeing familiar faces from the Tamil entertainment industry leave their comfort zones and compete in an unfamiliar setting.

“What I’m most excited about is watching some of our favourite Tamil celebrities step into the kitchen, take risks, make mistakes, surprise themselves, and compete with a lot more passion than you’d expect!” Samantha added.

Samantha Keeps Celebrity Contestants Under Wraps

While teasing the upcoming show, Samantha stopped short of revealing the names of the celebrity participants.

“I wish I could tell you who’s cooking, but where’s the fun in that? I can’t wait for everyone to experience what we’re cooking up with Sony Vizha,” she said.

The series is expected to combine the familiar competitive structure of MasterChef with a Tamil cultural and entertainment flavour, along with a celebrity cast.

Chef Sashi Cheliah Joins as Judge

Adding further experience to the judging panel, MasterChef Australia winner Chef Sashi Cheliah has joined Celebrity MasterChef Tamil as a judge. His experience in competitive cooking is expected to bring another dimension to the celebrity contestants’ culinary challenges.

The show is expected to premiere soon on Sony VIZHA and Sony LIV. An official premiere date and the complete contestant lineup are awaited.
