Sonali Kulkarni On Mouni Roy’s Separation: ‘I Feel Like Giving Her Immense Privacy And More Strength’

Sonali Kulkarni has expressed her support for her The Wives co-star Mouni Roy following the actress’s reported separation from Suraj Nambiar. In an exclusive conversation with India TV Digital, Sonali said she would rather give Mouni privacy and strength as she navigates a difficult personal phase.

Sonali, who recently launched her podcast Half Ticket Full Nagrik, spoke about her career, upcoming projects and her experience working with filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on The Wives, which also features Mouni Roy.

Mouni Roy has recently been in the news following reports surrounding her personal life and her reported separation from Suraj Nambiar after four years of marriage. Amid the public attention, Sonali chose not to speculate about the circumstances and instead focused on supporting her co-star.

Speaking to India TV Digital, Sonali said:

“I only feel for her as my co-star. I feel like giving her immense privacy and more strength to sail through this difficult time. She’s been a wonderful co-star.”

Her comments come at a time when celebrity relationships and separations often become subjects of intense discussion on social media. Rather than addressing speculation, Sonali emphasised the importance of allowing Mouni the space to deal with her personal life privately.

“We had such a gala time on Madhur’s set. I even told Madhur on the last day of the shoot that this is the rarest experience that I felt, and I don’t want this shoot to ever end.”

Sonali added that she wanted to continue working with the team because of the environment created by the filmmaker.

“I want to go on and on because Madhur gives you a fantastic work atmosphere.”

Reflecting on Bhandarkar’s approach to filmmaking, Sonali described him as someone who is deeply invested in performances while maintaining a comfortable atmosphere for his actors.

“He’s very passionate about the way he wants your performance to come out, and at the same time, there’s pressure. But it’s a very relaxed atmosphere.”

For an actor, Sonali suggested, that balance can make a major difference during a demanding shoot. She also credited the warmth on the set with helping create a memorable experience for the cast.

‘Mouni Must Have Gotten That Warmth’

Sonali further suggested that Mouni would have experienced the same supportive atmosphere while working on The Wives. She said she has “much love and respect” for her co-star and believes Mouni deserves the freedom to make decisions about her life at her own pace.

“So I’m very happy the warmth Madhur has given all of us, and Mouni definitely must have gotten that warmth and must have taken her own time to think about her life, and I have much love and respect for her.”
