Yash’s Toxic Gets A Certificate; Runtime Set at Around 3 Hours and 14 Minutes

Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has completed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process ahead of its worldwide release on August 26. The Geetu Mohandas-directed gangster drama has received an A (Adults Only) certificate, with the certification process also resulting in a few modifications to the film.

The certification has also confirmed the film’s reported runtime at approximately 3 hours and 14 minutes, making Toxic one of the more expansive theatrical releases of the year.

Toxic gets an A certificate from CBFC

The adults-only certification adds another layer of anticipation around Toxic, which has been positioned as a darker and more mature film in Yash’s post-KGF: Chapter 2 career.

The film reportedly underwent modifications requested during the certification process before receiving clearance for its Indian release.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is set in post-Independence Goa and follows a gangster whose world is shaped by violence, shifting loyalties, jealousy and questions of morality.

Rather than being presented simply as an action-driven commercial film, the movie is expected to combine stylised action with emotional and psychological conflicts surrounding its central character.

Yash returns with a lengthy gangster drama

At around 194 minutes, Toxic has a substantial runtime. The length gives the filmmakers considerable space to develop the film’s characters and its expansive gangster narrative.

For Yash, the film marks his first theatrical release since KGF: Chapter 2, which became a major success across Indian markets.

The actor leads an ensemble that includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Sudev Nair, Balaji Manohar and Akshay Oberoi are also part of the cast, alongside several international actors.

Geetu Mohandas and Yash collaborate on the story

Toxic is produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

Geetu Mohandas is directing the film and has worked on the story with Yash. The technical crew includes cinematographer Rajeev Ravi and editor Ujwal Kulkarni.

The film’s music has been contributed by Ravi Basrur, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, adding multiple musical styles to the project’s soundtrack.

Toxic was shot in Kannada and English

One of the more distinctive aspects of Toxic is its multilingual production.

The film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English before being prepared in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions for its wider Indian release.

With the Indian version now having completed the certification process, questions remain about how the film will be presented in international markets.

It has yet to be clarified whether overseas audiences will receive the original English version in an uncut form or whether the international release will follow the modifications made for the Indian certification.

The makers are yet to provide a definitive clarification on that point.

A major theatrical release for Yash

With an adults-only certificate, a runtime of approximately three hours and 14 minutes, a large ensemble cast and a multilingual release strategy, Toxic is shaping up as one of Yash’s most ambitious projects.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on August 26, 2026. Its reception will also mark an important moment for Yash, as audiences have been waiting for his first release since the KGF franchise established him as a major pan-India star.

For now, the A certificate and lengthy runtime have given audiences two more details to consider before Toxic reaches theatres.
