Following the trailer’s release, some social media users questioned the styling of characters including Sai Pallavi’s Sita and Lara Dutta’s Kaikeyi, with some expressing opinions about whether the costumes reflected their expectations for a cinematic adaptation of the ancient epic.

Responding to the discussion, Surabhi encouraged audiences to experience the complete film before reaching conclusions about its artistic choices.

She noted that audiences often express differing opinions regardless of the direction filmmakers choose, suggesting that costume decisions would likely have attracted debate under any circumstances.

According to Surabhi, no large-scale adaptation can satisfy every viewer’s expectations, especially when interpreting a revered literary and cultural work.

She emphasized that viewers would be better able to understand the filmmakers’ vision after watching the full film in theatres rather than judging it solely from promotional material.

Surabhi also expressed confidence that the overall scale and storytelling of Ramayana would become the focus once audiences experience the complete production.

She suggested that discussions currently centered on costume details may become less significant when viewed within the broader context of the film’s visual presentation and narrative.

Her comments reflect a wider conversation surrounding adaptations of well-known epics, where filmmakers often balance artistic interpretation with audience expectations.

Costume Designers Also Call for Patience

The discussion surrounding the film’s costumes has also prompted responses from Rimple and Harpreet Narula, the designers behind Ramayana’s wardrobe.

The designers have encouraged audiences to wait until the film is released before evaluating its visual approach, explaining that individual promotional scenes may not fully represent the overall creative direction.
