Actor R. Madhavan believes romance should never be limited by age. While acknowledging that he no longer sees himself playing the youthful romantic lead that audiences remember from Alaipayuthey, the 55-year-old actor says mature love stories deserve equal space on screen.
Speaking about the evolution of his career, Madhavan shared that he now looks for emotionally rich characters that reflect different stages of life rather than trying to recreate the roles that made him a romantic icon.

Reflecting on his career, Madhavan said he understands that the phase of playing young lovers belongs to the past.
