A subsequent internal audit revealed discrepancies, with 66 out of 119 stored hard disks allegedly unaccounted for. Several empty and damaged storage boxes were also reportedly discovered on-site.

Following a complaint, Mumbai Police registered an FIR and arrested two individuals, including a staff member. During interrogation, one of the accused allegedly admitted to stealing multiple hard disks over several months and selling them at relatively low prices. Authorities are now investigating whether the stolen data was copied, transferred, or leaked further into circulation.

Cyber forensic teams may also be involved to determine whether any unreleased or sensitive content from the drives has been accessed or distributed online.
