Actor Chaithra J Achar was initially considered for the female lead in the upcoming Tamil film Kara, but the casting eventually changed due to creative considerations.

Why the Casting Changed

Director Vignesh Raja revealed that Chaithra had completed a look test and was in early discussions for the role. However, the actor informed the team that she would appear in a similar look in another project, My Lord, starring Sasikumar.

Since My Lord is expected to release before Kara, the makers felt the visual similarity could impact the distinct identity of her character in the new film. To maintain freshness on screen, the team decided to explore other options.

Mamitha Baiju Steps In

Following this, the role went to Mamitha Baiju. The director admitted he was initially unsure whether she would accept the offer, given her association with lighter, more cheerful roles. However, she agreed to take on the part, bringing a new dimension to the project.

About the Film

Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja—known for Por Thozhil—is already generating interest ahead of its release. Set in 1991, the film draws from the socio-political climate of the time, blending crime and drama elements.

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jayaram, KS Ravikumar, and Karunas. It is backed by Vels Film International, with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
