Actor Daisy Shah has opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs and her views on marriage, saying she prefers independence and does not believe motherhood must be tied to a traditional marital timeline.
At 41, the actor shared that she has chosen egg freezing as a way to keep her options open when it comes to becoming a parent.
Speaking to Filmygyan, Daisy said she has no fixed expectations around marriage and believes building a family does not necessarily require it.
“I’ve frozen my eggs, so I can become a mother whenever I want. I can have my own child,” she said, explaining that the decision gives her freedom over her future.

Daisy also reflected on her personal achievements and said she feels satisfied with where she stands in life.
According to her, several personal goals — including buying a house and ensuring financial security for her family — have already been fulfilled.
“I’ve got whatever I wanted in life,” she shared, adding that even simple dreams like having two dogs have come true.
At the same time, she acknowledged that past relationships have shaped her outlook on commitment. The actor described some previous experiences as “toxic” and recalled being discouraged by a partner from working with male co-stars.

Financial independence, she added, plays a key role in how she approaches partnership today.
“I earn well for myself. I just cannot become the mother of a grown man,” Daisy said, emphasising that while a partner does not need to support her financially, he should still have stability and ambition.

Expert view: Emotional factors behind egg freezing
Psychologist Rasshi Gurnani explains that choosing to freeze eggs and potentially pursue motherhood without marriage involves more than medical considerations.
According to Gurnani, the decision often involves emotional reflection about identity, long-term plans, and personal support systems.
“Women may need to reflect on their readiness for single parenting and whether this choice comes from empowerment or from fear of timelines, loneliness, or past disappointments,” she explained.
Understanding beliefs around family, societal expectations and personal fulfilment can help individuals approach such decisions with clarity.
Impact of past toxic relationships
Past unhealthy relationships can significantly influence how people view future commitments.
Gurnani noted that experiences of emotional manipulation or control may lead individuals to prioritise independence and personal boundaries in later relationships.
Healing from these experiences usually involves recognising patterns, rebuilding trust gradually and developing emotional awareness.
“Therapy, self-awareness and gradual vulnerability help individuals move from fear-based avoidance to choice-based connection,” she added.
Balancing love and practical realities
Experts say finding a life partner often involves balancing emotional and practical factors.
Viewing a relationship as a shared life system rather than just a romantic ideal can help people align their values, goals and expectations.
According to Gurnani, the aim should not be perfection but rather mutual emotional safety, stability and compatibility.
