Arbaaz Khan shares update on father Salim Khan’s health

Filmmaker and actor Arbaaz Khan recently provided a brief but reassuring update on the health of his father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, who was hospitalized earlier this year.

The veteran writer was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17, 2026, after reportedly suffering a minor brain haemorrhage. Doctors placed him on a ventilator as a precautionary measure while monitoring his condition.

Arbaaz Khan says his father is recovering

While leaving an iftar gathering recently, Arbaaz Khan was asked by reporters about his father’s condition. The actor confirmed that the veteran writer is recovering well.

“He’s better now, he’s improving,” Arbaaz said briefly when asked about his father’s health.

When questioned about the possibility of discharging him from the hospital and bringing him home, he responded simply, saying “Soon.”

Friends from the industry share positive updates

Earlier, renowned lyricist and longtime collaborator Javed Akhtar also shared encouraging news about Salim Khan’s recovery.

The two legends famously worked together as the iconic Salim–Javed duo, creating some of the most influential films in Hindi cinema.

Speaking about his friend’s condition, Javed Akhtar had said that Salim Khan was doing well and recovering steadily. He added that the veteran writer was able to sit, talk, and interact with people.

Medical procedure performed during treatment

Reports suggest that doctors performed a Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) on Salim Khan on February 18, 2026 to assess his condition further.

During his hospitalization, he was initially kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observation. Doctors, including pulmonologist Dr. Jalil Parkar, indicated that he might soon be shifted to a private ward as his condition improved.

Bollywood personalities visit the veteran writer

During his hospital stay, several well-known Bollywood personalities visited to check on the veteran screenwriter.

Actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Sanjay Dutt were among those who reportedly came to see him and offer their support to the family.

Salim Khan, now in his 90s, is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers in Indian cinema, known for creating classic films alongside Javed Akhtar.
