Priyanka Chopra reflects on her transition from Bollywood to Hollywood

Actor Priyanka Chopra has once again spoken about her decision to explore opportunities in the West after establishing a successful career in Bollywood.

During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the global star shared insights into why she decided to expand her career internationally and the challenges that came with the move.

Inspired by Indian representation in global entertainment

While discussing her journey, Priyanka Chopra mentioned how personalities such as Mindy Kaling and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had already made their presence felt in global entertainment and American pop culture.

According to Chopra, she was curious about why Indian actors were not more visible internationally. That curiosity encouraged her to test her own potential in the Western entertainment industry and bring greater representation to global audiences.

Speaking about the challenges she faced while making the transition, Chopra emphasised that success in any industry requires resilience.

She shared that life often presents difficult phases, but she believes strongly in adapting and moving forward. The actor explained that when situations become difficult, it is important to take time to process emotions and then move ahead with renewed focus.

Chopra added that throughout her career she has often had to “pivot” and reinvent herself whenever circumstances demanded it.

Starting fresh in a new industry

The actor also described how moving to Hollywood meant starting from scratch in many ways. Entering a new environment without established connections required confidence and determination.

However, Chopra said she trusted her skills and work ethic. She believed that as long as she remained committed to her craft, she could hold her own alongside any filmmaker or co-actor on set.

That mindset, she explained, helped her gradually establish herself in the international entertainment space.

Return to Indian cinema

After spending several years focusing on international projects, Priyanka Chopra is now preparing to return to Indian cinema.

She is expected to appear in filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming project Varanasi, which will reportedly feature Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles.

The film is currently scheduled for release on April 7, 2027, marking one of Chopra’s major collaborations in Indian cinema after focusing on international ventures.
