The Kerala Story 2 Box Office: Film Maintains Steady Run in Second Week

The controversial drama The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond continues its theatrical run with steady collections at the Indian box office.

Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film earned approximately ₹1.25 crore on its second Monday, taking its total to around ₹28.75 crore nett in 11 days.

Second Week Performance

The film recorded a 28 percent drop compared to its second Friday collections, but it has still managed to maintain a stable pace in its second week.

In the first four days of its second week alone, the movie collected ₹8.50 crore, and trade estimates suggest that it could finish the second week with around ₹12–13 crore, pushing the overall total to approximately ₹32 crore.

If the current trend continues, the film is expected to finish its full theatrical run close to the ₹40 crore mark.

Cast and Production

Apart from the storyline-driven narrative, the film features performances by Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha, and Aditi Bhatia.

Despite having relatively lesser star power compared to mainstream Bollywood releases, the film has managed to secure a decent box-office performance.

Comparison With the First Film

The sequel’s box office run is significantly lower than the original The Kerala Story, which had a strong opening and went on to collect around ₹220 crore nett during its full theatrical run.

The first film opened with ₹6.75 crore on day one and eventually emerged as one of the biggest surprise hits of its year.

Changing Trends for Issue-Based Films

In recent years, films based on socio-political themes have experienced fluctuating box-office performances. While some earlier releases in this genre achieved massive success, newer titles have seen comparatively lower numbers.

Nevertheless, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond appears to be heading towards a respectable total given its scale and budget.
