The Kapoor family has remained one of Bollywood’s most influential film dynasties for generations, with stars including Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor carrying forward the cinematic legacy.
However, one member of the family stayed away from the film industry for decades — Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
Now, at the age of 45, Riddhima is set to make her acting debut with the upcoming film Daadi Ki Shaadi alongside her mother Neetu Kapoor. Ahead of the release, an old revelation by Neetu Kapoor about why Rishi Kapoor opposed their daughter’s Bollywood entry has resurfaced.
Neetu Kapoor Revealed Rishi Kapoor’s Concerns
In Rishi Kapoor’s memoir Khullam Khulla, Neetu Kapoor shared that Riddhima always knew her father was uncomfortable with the idea of her entering films.

She also praised her daughter’s natural talent and personality.
“She is a wonderfully talented and beautiful girl. She’s a fabulous mimic and would have excelled among any actress,” Neetu added.
Rishi Kapoor Was Extremely Protective
According to Neetu Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor’s hesitation was not because he looked down on actresses or believed women should avoid working in cinema.
Instead, she said the late actor was deeply protective of his family and worried about the pressures and darker side of fame.

Neetu revealed that Rishi Kapoor was concerned about the demanding and often intrusive nature of the entertainment industry.
The actress shared that these fears stayed with him until Riddhima eventually settled down after marrying businessman Bharat Sahni.

‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’ Marks Family Debut
Daadi Ki Shaadi, directed by Ashish R Mohan, is being promoted as a family entertainer.
The film stars Neetu Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, R Sarathkumar and Sadia Khateeb in key roles.
The movie will also mark the Bollywood debut of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor’s granddaughter Samaira Sahni, who will reportedly appear in a cameo role.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 8, 2026.
