Adah Sharma breaks silence on absence from The Kerala Story 2: ‘Not really to be discussed publicly’

Actor Adah Sharma has finally responded to questions surrounding her absence from The Kerala Story 2. The actress, who played the lead role in the first film, was notably missing from the sequel’s cast announcement, leaving many fans surprised.

In a recent interaction with IANS, Sharma explained why she chose not to comment earlier about the sequel.

Speaking about the topic, the actor said she prefers to talk about projects she is directly involved in.

“I enjoy speaking about a film I am part of. When I’m not a part of a film, I feel speaking about it just to be in the news isn’t right,” Sharma said.

She also added that discussions about whether she was offered the sequel should remain private between the actor and the filmmakers.

“Whether I was offered the sequel or not is something that should remain between the makers and the actor and not really be discussed publicly,” she said.

Sharma further clarified that the storyline of the second film is different from the original.

According to her, the first film focused on ISIS training camps in Afghanistan and depicted how an innocent girl could be radicalised step by step. The sequel, she said, explores an entirely different narrative.

Fans say they miss her in the sequel

When asked about viewers who expected to see her return in the franchise, Sharma acknowledged the support she receives from audiences.

She said her fans have supported her across different kinds of roles since her debut in the horror film 1920.

“My audience loves me a lot. They want to see me in every movie. They accept me in every role,” she said, referencing characters she has played in projects ranging from the horror film to the controversial drama and the web series Sunflower.

Upcoming projects

On the work front, Sharma has several upcoming projects in the pipeline, including a biopic, an action film, and a horror project.

The actor was last seen in the second season of Sunflower, directed by Vikas Bahl. The series also features Sunil Grover, Ranvir Shorey and Girish Kulkarni.

Season two of the show premiered on March 1, 2024, continuing the story of Sonu Singh and the unusual mystery surrounding the residents of Sunflower society.
