SS Rajamouli Praises Priyanka Chopra’s Performance in The Bluff: ‘Utterly Vulnerable and Ferociously Strong’

Filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has praised actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas for her performance in the action drama The Bluff.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the acclaimed director commended Priyanka’s ability to display emotional range on screen. According to Rajamouli, she can shift seamlessly from vulnerability to strength within moments.

He wrote that Priyanka is among the rare performers who can be “utterly vulnerable at one moment and ferociously strong the next,” adding that The Bluff stands as “another testament to her talent.”

Rajamouli also appreciated the film’s pacing and action sequences, congratulating the entire team behind the project.

Mahesh Babu also praises Priyanka

Actor Mahesh Babu, who will soon share screen space with Priyanka, also applauded her performance in the film.

Sharing his thoughts on X, Mahesh described The Bluff as a well-mounted action drama with strong emotional moments. He noted that Priyanka delivers a powerful performance, calling her “in top form” and praising the film’s swashbuckling action and engaging storytelling.

Priyanka on portraying pirates in The Bluff

Earlier, Priyanka had spoken about the film in an interview with Variety, explaining that the team wanted to depict pirates in a more realistic way than typical fictional portrayals.

She revealed that the makers researched historical pirates, including the Irish pirate queen Grace O’Malley, to better understand the lives of pirates in the 1700s.

Although the film was shot in Australia, the story is set in the Cayman Islands, a location historically used by pirates as a resting stop between voyages across the Caribbean.

About the film

The Bluff features intense action sequences, with Priyanka performing sword fights and gun battles opposite actor Karl Urban.

The movie is directed by Frank E. Flowers and produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, and Angela Russo-Otstot under their banner AGBO.

The film has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video since February 25 and features an ensemble cast including Safia Oakley-Green, Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Zack Morris and David Field.

Priyanka’s upcoming projects

Priyanka will next appear in Varanasi, directed by Rajamouli and co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is scheduled for release on April 7, 2027.

She will also return in the second season of the spy thriller series Citadel.
