Actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav recently addressed the media in Mumbai amid the ongoing Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case linked to his 2010 film. He arrived at the press conference with his lawyer Bhaskar Upadhyay and spoke about the legal proceedings, industry support, and his upcoming projects.
Clarifies Remarks on Sonu Sood’s Offer
During the interaction, Rajpal responded to reports about Sonu Sood offering him work.
Speaking to SCREEN, the actor said, “Please get over the misconception that I need to keep asking for work. And there is no shame in asking for work. I live through my job; cinema is my passion, and I work in such a way that I get four times more work. I even work during vacations. Work doesn’t find me, it has lived with me for the last 11 years.”
He emphasized that he has been part of the industry for nearly 26 years and has signed close to 200 contracts, ranging from small-scale to major productions. Questioning the narrative around the case, he stated that if there had been any wrongful intent, more such cases would have surfaced.

The legal matter relates to a loan taken in 2010 for the film Ata Pata Laapata. Rajpal Yadav has been granted interim bail in the case after depositing Rs 1.5 crore. The relief remains valid until March 18.
The actor maintained that the financial dispute connected to the film has been misinterpreted. He described it as a disagreement between three individuals and claimed that others are unaware of the complete details. Rajpal also expressed gratitude to his supporters and colleagues for standing by him during what he described as a challenging phase.
Upcoming Films and Web Series
On the professional front, Rajpal Yadav confirmed that he has begun work on his first film of the year with director Priyadarshan. The project will be followed by Bhoot Bangla.
He also mentioned the large ensemble cast of 27 actors in Welcome to the Jungle. The actor, known for his role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, revealed that he plays a small but important part in Haiwaan.
Additionally, Rajpal shared that he is currently working on two web series and two more films, though he refrained from disclosing further details.
