Recent reports suggest that Deepika Padukone will not be part of the upcoming season of The White Lotus.

Although earlier speculation hinted at her potential involvement, industry sources cited by Variety India indicate that discussions with the makers did take place — but the collaboration did not move forward.

Why the Project Did Not Materialise

According to reports:

• Auditions are reportedly mandatory for casting in the series.
• Producers were interested in bringing Deepika on board.
• However, sources claim she was not keen on participating in the audition process.

A source stated:

“Auditions are a mandatory part of the casting process… Deepika was not keen on auditioning, and that was the reason the opportunity had to be passed.”

This reportedly led to the role being shelved for her.

Earlier Approach for Season 3

The makers had reportedly approached her during Season 3 discussions as well. However, she declined at that time due to her pregnancy.

Had the deal materialised, the project would have marked her return to Hollywood following her debut in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, where she starred alongside Vin Diesel and an international ensemble cast.
