Mrunal Thakur Says Dhanush Attended ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Screening at Her Request, Dismisses Dating Rumours

Actor Mrunal Thakur has clarified the reason behind actor Dhanush attending the premiere of her film Son of Sardaar 2, putting to rest speculation that their public interaction signalled a romantic relationship.

The appearance sparked widespread rumours last year, with social media users quickly linking the moment to relationship claims — and some even speculating about a possible Valentine’s Day wedding. However, Mrunal has now addressed the buzz directly.

During promotions for her film Do Deewane Seher Mein, Mrunal spoke about the viral moment in an interview with Mirchi Plus.

Expressing admiration for Dhanush’s body of work, she described herself as a “big, big fan,” citing films such as Raayan, Maari, Raanjhanaa, Captain Miller, and particularly praising Asuran, which she said she could watch repeatedly.

Referring to him as an “institution,” she highlighted his versatility as an actor and creative artist.

Explaining the screening incident, she said that while they were shooting Tere Ishk Mein, she casually asked him if he could attend the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere. She admitted she did not expect him to show up — making his presence a pleasant surprise.

“I really wish to work with him one day,” she added, emphasising professional respect rather than personal speculation.

Speculation about a possible relationship first surfaced in August 2025 after a video of Mrunal warmly greeting Dhanush at the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere went viral.

The buzz intensified when she later attended the wrap party of Dhanush’s film Tere Ishk Mein, prompting online discussions about their closeness.
