Shivangi Verma on Redefining Valentine’s Day

While Valentine’s Day is often seen as a celebration exclusively for couples, actor Shivangi Verma believes the meaning of the day extends far beyond romantic relationships.

Sharing her perspective, Shivangi spoke about love, personal growth, and how her understanding of the occasion has evolved over time.

“For me, Valentine’s Day is not limited to couples. I see it as a reminder to appreciate love in all forms — family, friends, work, and the relationship I have with myself,” she said.

Being Single Is Not ‘Incomplete’

Addressing the idea that the day may feel isolating for single individuals, Shivangi emphasised that she views it differently.

“Being single doesn’t make the day incomplete. It actually gives me the space to reflect, grow, and value my own journey,” she shared.

When asked whether Valentine’s Day feels like pressure or celebration, the actor admitted that her views have matured over the years.

“When I was younger, there was a little pressure because everything around the day is very couple-focused,” she said. “Now I’ve realised that love is not about one particular day. If you have someone special, you celebrate together. If you don’t, you still have many reasons to feel grateful.”

Reel Romance vs Real Love

As an actor who frequently performs romantic scenes, Shivangi drew a distinction between on-screen portrayals and real-life relationships.

“On screen, romance is very polished and dramatic. Everything looks perfect,” she explained. “But in real life, love is much more honest and grounded. It’s about understanding each other, being patient, and growing together.”

She added that over time, her priorities have shifted from attraction and excitement to emotional stability and consistency.

“Earlier, attraction and excitement mattered more. Today, I value emotional maturity, respect, and consistency,” she said.

A Simple Approach to Self-Love

For Shivangi, Valentine’s Day is best spent in a calm and meaningful way.

“I like to keep it peaceful. Spending time with close friends, watching a good film, or just relaxing at home feels enough,” she shared.

According to her, self-love means nurturing one’s mental, physical and emotional well-being — rather than seeking grand romantic gestures.

A Message of Balance

Concluding her thoughts, Shivangi underlined that peace and balance matter more than perfection.

Her Valentine’s Day message resonates as a reminder that love is multifaceted — extending beyond romance to include self-respect, gratitude and emotional growth.
