Shubhangi Atre on Acting: “Talent Matters, But Patience and the Right Opportunity Are Key”

Shubhangi Atre, known for her roles in shows like Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, recently opened up about her journey in the entertainment industry and how her craft has evolved over time.

The actress credits her experiences on set and with co-actors for shaping her approach to acting.

“With different kinds of events and situations, my craft has evolved,” Shubhangi said. “I was a part of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! for almost 10 years, so I learned a lot from every co-actor, from situations, and from life experiences. For sure, I think I have become calmer now. Earlier I was different, but now I observe more, I experience more, and I absorb things. All this helps in spontaneous performance. Your experiences help you grow professionally.”

Reinvention and Patience in Acting

Shubhangi emphasized that actors must continuously reinvent themselves.
“We express emotions, so it is extremely important to re-explore and reinvent yourself,” she said.

Reflecting on her two decades in the industry, she also stressed the importance of patience.
“Acting is not only about talent; it is also about waiting for the right opportunity and staying strong during difficult times. An actor should also be a very good observer, because real emotions and behavior come from watching people and life closely.”

She added, “Apart from this, adaptability is important because the industry keeps changing. Learning new things, understanding different platforms, and being open to feedback also help an actor grow. Discipline, emotional strength, and good communication skills are useful in the long run.”

OTT Platforms and the Changing Industry

Shubhangi highlighted how OTT platforms have changed the creative landscape.
“After Covid, content from all over the world is in front of us. The industry has to evolve according to the audience’s tastes. Gen Z and millennials have very different preferences. This is a welcome change because content really matters,” she said.

She expressed gratitude toward audiences for embracing diverse stories.
“Digital platforms give actors more opportunities to show their talent globally. Roles on OTT platforms are often more realistic and layered, which helps actors grow creatively. Continuous content allows actors to stay connected with the audience for longer, helping build a strong and lasting career.”

Social Responsibility and Meaningful Storytelling

Shubhangi also believes actors have a responsibility to contribute positively to society.
“The projects we choose can influence how people think and feel. Through our work, we can address important issues like equality, mental health, and women’s empowerment. When actors take part in meaningful stories, it creates awareness and positive change. Balancing entertainment with honest, sensible storytelling is essential,” she said.

Looking Ahead

On what’s next for her, Shubhangi revealed,
“I have moved on from my past work, and now I am really looking for something fresh, something different, something very challenging.”
