Tanya Maniktala Denies Replacing Ananya Panday in Amrita Sher-Gil Biopic

Mumbai, India – Actress Tanya Maniktala has addressed recent rumours suggesting she has replaced Ananya Panday in the highly anticipated Amrita Sher-Gil biopic. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Tanya stated, “I have no idea where this piece of information has come from. We have no idea about the Amrita Sher-Gil project. So I don’t think I can comment on that.”

The actress also spoke about speculation surrounding an upcoming film with Rajkummar Rao, adding, “Even though the project with Raj sir is not announced, the information has gotten out already. So that is currently under works. I did not allow myself to imagine and accept that these kinds of things could happen to me. Now that it’s working out, I am thankful to my lucky stars, although I also worked pretty hard towards it.”

Tanya, who has been impressing audiences for seven years with roles in A Suitable Boy and Kill, recently moved from Delhi to Mumbai to actively pursue her Bollywood career. “There are a lot of firsts happening, and I’m so excited. They come with a lot of joy and excitement, and also have their nervous moments,” she shared. She also mentioned adjusting to living independently in Mumbai, learning to take care of herself after years of comfort in Delhi.

Despite the move, Tanya said Delhi remains her home and comfort zone. She emphasized that stepping into Mumbai was essential for being fully involved in the Bollywood industry, marking a significant phase in her acting journey.
