The film has received largely positive critical feedback, particularly for Rani Mukerji’s commanding performance as IPS officer Shivani Shivaji Roy. The Hindustan Times review noted that while the film doesn’t radically reinvent the franchise, it remains impactful due to its unflinching focus on crimes against women and children.
The review highlighted that Shivani’s authority on screen continues to anchor the narrative, giving the franchise its emotional and social relevance even a decade after the first film.
About Mardaani 3
Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, Mardaani 3 continues the franchise’s tradition of socially driven storytelling. The first film (2014) tackled human trafficking, while Mardaani 2 (2019) explored the psyche of a violent serial criminal.
The latest installment, written by Priyanka Roy, addresses another urgent social issue as Shivani investigates the mysterious disappearance of 93 young girls over a span of three months. The film also stars Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in key roles.
With strong weekend numbers and positive audience reactions, Mardaani 3 is expected to maintain its momentum into the weekdays.
