Nimrat Kaur Pens Heartfelt Note for Martyred Father, Shares Childhood Pictures

Actress Nimrat Kaur on Friday paid an emotional tribute to her late father, Major Bhupender Singh, marking 32 years since his martyrdom while serving the nation. Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a series of rare childhood photographs and penned a deeply moving note remembering her father’s courage, values, and sacrifice.

Calling him a “self-made son of the soil” and a fearless soldier, Nimrat expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and local administration for immortalising his name both in Ganganagar, where he was born, and in the Kashmir Valley, where he attained martyrdom.

‘A Lion-Heart Soldier Who Feared Nothing’

“It’s been 32 years since Papa left us in service of the nation,” Nimrat wrote.
“A self-made son of the soil, a peerless husband and father, and beyond everything, a lion-heart soldier who feared nothing — not even death, we were told, in his final moments.”

She further added,
“Forever grateful to the Indian Army and the administration to have immortalised Papa’s name on the soil he was born in Ganganagar and where he breathed his last in the Kashmir Valley.”

Prayers for Fallen Soldiers

On the solemn occasion, Nimrat said she remembers her father more deeply than ever and offered prayers for every soldier who has laid down their life in the line of duty.

“His sacrifice, courage, values and grit live on in the memories of his brother soldiers and us all,” she wrote, concluding,
“Remembering Papa more today than every other day and praying for every soldier who’s lost their lives in action… Honoured to always be known as Major Bhupender Singh’s daughter.”

Nimrat Kaur’s Career So Far

On the professional front, Nimrat Kaur began her journey as a print model before transitioning into theatre and films. She made her film debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Peddlers (2012) and rose to prominence with the critically acclaimed The Lunchbox (2014), starring the late Irrfan Khan.

Internationally, she gained recognition for playing ISI agent Tasneem Qureishi in the popular American series Homeland, appearing in both its fourth and eighth seasons. Her other notable projects include Wayward Pines, School of Lies, and most recently, The Family Man Season 3, created by Raj & DK.
