Anushka Sen Reveals How Travel Shapes Her Life, Says Visiting 29 Countries Helped Her Grow Personally and Professionally

Television star and digital sensation Anushka Sen, known for popular shows like Baalveer, Jhansi Ki Rani, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, is not just a familiar face on screen but also an avid global traveller. With journeys spanning 29 countries, the actress says travel has become a defining force in shaping both her life and her craft.

Speaking about her passion for exploring new destinations, Anushka shared that she travels extensively for both work and leisure. “Yes, I do travel a lot—for work and otherwise. I travel solo and sometimes with my parents. We’ve travelled to around 29 countries,” she said, adding that her itineraries are often a mix of spontaneity and careful planning.

Anushka revealed that her travel decisions are frequently inspired by films, word-of-mouth recommendations, and interactions with locals. “Because I’m an actress, I enjoy discovering unique locations or dishes I may have seen in my favourite movie,” she explained. “Sometimes I land and directly ask locals about spots that are special to them. I also ask for restaurant recommendations to experience authentic local cuisine.”

The actress is currently promoting NowYouKnow (NYK), a social-circle–based recommendations platform founded by siblings Krishna and Pia Shivdasani. Unlike anonymous review apps, NYK focuses on trusted suggestions from friends and known circles, covering restaurants, cafés, hotels, bars, and hidden local gems.

Explaining her association with the platform, Anushka said she enjoys sharing real experiences with her audience. “I love sharing my recommendations and moments with my fans, but earlier it was never so location-specific,” she said. “With NYK, people can go to the exact restaurant, stay at the same hotel, and follow the same itinerary that I experienced.”

Calling the platform community-driven, she added, “I’m really excited for people to use the app and build a beautiful, trusted community.”

Travel as a Tool for Self-Discovery

Reflecting on her favourite destinations, Anushka described places like Tanzania as transformative. “These places are super unique. You’re surrounded by nature and animals, and you can even see the Milky Way,” she shared.

For Anushka, travel goes beyond sightseeing—it’s deeply introspective. “Every country and every city I’ve visited has impacted me. I feel more connected to myself,” she said.

She also believes that these experiences influence her acting. “Every single trip I’ve taken has shaped the person I am today. I channel those emotions and learnings when I portray a character,” Anushka noted, highlighting how real-world exposure enhances her on-screen performances.
