‘Don’t treat me like a criminal’: Naga Chaitanya once explained his divorce from Samantha

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s recent wedding to filmmaker Raj Nidimoru has set social media abuzz, especially after intimate photos from the ceremony at the Linga Bhairavi Temple in Coimbatore went viral. The low-key celebration, attended by barely 30 guests, has reopened conversations around her past relationship with actor Naga Chaitanya, who had earlier spoken publicly about their separation.

When Naga Chaitanya addressed the real reasons behind the split

During promotions for his film Thandel, Chaitanya appeared on the podcast ‘Raw Talks With VK’ where he candidly reflected on his divorce from Samantha.
“We both felt the need to walk different paths in life. It was a personal and mutual decision,” he noted. “I don’t see why I owe any further explanation beyond that.”

Chaitanya urged fans and the media to respect boundaries, especially when it comes to private matters.
“We’re both moving ahead in our lives. I found love again, and I’m in a happy space. Samantha has also moved on, and we wish each other well,” he said, adding, “This happened in my personal life. Please don’t treat me like a criminal.”

A decision made after long reflection

Clarifying misconceptions, Chaitanya stressed that the divorce wasn’t impulsive.
“I grew up in a broken family, so I understand what separation brings with it. The decision was made after long thought, and it was right for both of us,” he shared. “Everything happens for a reason. You eventually discover the right direction, and that’s exactly what happened with me.”

Their journey from love story to separate lives

Naga Chaitanya and Samantha first met on the sets of the 2010 hit Ye Maya Chesave, where their on-screen chemistry blossomed into a real relationship. They married in 2017 in grand Hindu and Christian ceremonies in Goa.
However, in 2021, they shocked fans by announcing their separation. Chaitanya later tied the knot with actress Sobhita Dhulipala, while Samantha has now moved forward with her marriage to director Raj Nidimoru.
