Two of the industry’s biggest stars — Thalapathy Vijay and Sivakarthikeyan — are set to arrive on the big screen within 24 hours of each other, setting the stage for a high-stakes holiday weekend.

Concerned about the impact on Parasakthi’s box office performance, Sivakarthikeyan immediately contacted his producer to explore alternate release dates. Unfortunately, with investor commitments already locked around the Pongal schedule and the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections eliminating the possibility of a summer 2026 release, shifting the film became impossible.

Conversation with Vijay’s Camp

Sivakarthikeyan also reached out personally to Vijay’s manager Jagadish in hopes of finding a solution.

“I asked him, ‘What is this, bro?’ He told me both films were coming together.”

Later, Jagadish conveyed Vijay’s own response — a calm and confident one. According to Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay believes that Pongal is a big enough festival for both films to succeed without hurting each other’s business.

Vijay also extended his best wishes to the Parasakthi team.

Rather than escalating the situation, Sivakarthikeyan chose a gracious and positive approach. He urged audiences to treat the weekend as a celebration of Tamil cinema:

He even referenced his cameo in Vijay’s earlier film The GOAT as proof of the strong personal and professional respect between the two stars.
