Celina Jaitly ‘escaped to India with nothing’, says lawyer; actor seeks compensation for lost career opportunities
Actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence case against her husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, alleging years of emotional, financial and personal abuse. Her legal team has now shared new details about the challenges she allegedly faced during the marriage. Haag has not publicly responded to the accusations.
Lawyer details the allegations
Celina’s application, submitted in a Mumbai court through Karanjwala & Co., accuses Haag of cruelty, manipulation, coercion, and financial control under the Domestic Violence Act.
In an interview, Celina’s lawyer Niharika Karanjawala said the actor was forced to leave her home abroad abruptly.

Karanjawala further alleged that Haag restricted Celina from working in films, despite her strong career trajectory at the time of their marriage. She said the actor is now seeking compensation for the “unrealised potential profits” from the career she claims she was made to abandon.
Compensation sought
In her petition, Celina has asked for ₹50 crore as compensation along with ₹10 lakh per month in maintenance.
The actor also issued a heartfelt statement on social media describing the emotional toll of the situation, saying she is fighting one of the most challenging battles of her life without the support of her parents, brother, or her children.
Marriage and family
Celina Jaitly married Peter Haag, an entrepreneur and hotelier from Austria, in 2011. The couple is parents to three sons—twin boys Winston and Viraaj, born in 2012, and Arthur, born in 2017.
